Thinking Of Building?
There are some new considerations you must
review prior to making the decision to build a new home.
First, the International Building Code (IBC) has been implemented
in Mount Pleasant. What this means to you is that even “standard”
plans must now be engineered and stamped for the new building
code prior to submitting to the Town of Mount Pleasant for
a building permit. Be aware also that in Mount Pleasant
there is a permit allocation process. Permits are released
intermittently, and there is a limit on the number of permits
released. Both of these considerations will extend your
building process if either you or your builder do not plan
accordingly. It has not been unusual to wait 6 months to
a year for a permit after you have submitted your plans
to the town.
